Marisol Osman is associate Researcher of Centro de Investigaciones del Mar y la Atmósfera and Professor in the Departamento de Ciencias de la Atmósfera at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, holds PhD and Diploma degrees in Meteorology from the University of Buenos Aires.

Her research focuses on variability, predictability and forecast skill on subseasonal and seasonal timescales, including applications of forecast products in the agricultural and energy sectors and the development of forecasting tools.

Raised in a farming town, she developed an early interest in how climate variability affects agricultural activity. During her Diploma and PhD studies in Buenos Aires, she worked on climate predictability and seasonal‐timescale prediction across the Southern Hemisphere and South America. In her postdoctoral research she developed a probabilistic seasonal forecasting system for South America, now used by the Argentinian Weather Service, and co-designed forecasting tools for the agricultural sector in collaboration with anthropologists, economists and farmers.

From 2021 to 2023 she was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Troposphere Research at the Institute of Meteorology and Climate, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, focusing on the predictability of energy-sector variables on weather and subseasonal timescales in partnership with AXPO Solutions.

Back in Buenos Aires, she continues to work as a researcher and professor on subseasonal to seasonal prediction, investigating predictability and forecast applications for multiple stakeholders.
