Yuhei Takaya

Dr. Yuhei Takaya is a Senior Researcher at the Meteorological Research Institute of the Japan Meteorological Agency, specializing in climate dynamics, monsoons, atmosphere–land–ocean interactions, and sub-seasonal to seasonal prediction. Over the past two decades, he has made significant contributions to both research and operational climate prediction. Dr. Takaya has been actively involved in several international scientific initiatives. He served on the steering group of the WWRP/WCRP Subseasonal to Seasonal Prediction Project throughout its 10-year duration and is currently a member of the WCRP Working Group on Subseasonal to Interdecadal Prediction (WGSIP). He also has extensive experience in international operational activities under the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), including his current role as Co-Vice Chair of the Standing Committee on the WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (SC-WIPPS). In the SAGE project, he plays a key role in advancing S2S prediction science, particularly in the area of conditional predictability and its practical applications, with a special focus on agriculture.
