Dr Masilin Gudoshava is a Climate Modelling Expert at the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in Nairobi, Kenya, and a Steering Group member for the WMO World Weather Research Programmes Sub-seasonal Applications for Agriculture and Environment (SAGE) project (20242028), representing Regional Association I. She has over 10 years of experience in climate modelling utilizing the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model to improve sub-seasonal to seasonal forecasting in East Africa. Her work focuses on advancing the scientific understanding of sub-seasonal to seasonal drivers and tailoring forecast products to meet the needs of agriculture, health, and disaster risk reduction sectors. She conducts capacity-building workshops and collaborates with stakeholders to integrate research outputs into operational climate services across the Greater Horn of Africa.


Dr Gudoshava holds a PhD in Climate Science and has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed and policy documents on climate prediction and impact-based forecasting. She is a member of the World Climate Research Programmes African Monsoon Working Group, contributing to regional monsoon predictability research. She previously served as a Lecturer in the Department of Meteorological Sciences at the National University of Science and Technology, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where she supervised student research projects. In July 2023, Dr Gudoshava participated as a discussant in ICPACs webinar The Future of Climate Forecasting, discussing innovations in March-to-May seasonal forecast development. She maintains an active presence on ResearchGate, sharing over 30 publications and engaging with an international research community. Her professional affiliations include membership in the African Monsoon Working Group under the World Climate Research Programme and involvement in the GCRF African SWIFT executive committee. Dr Gudoshavas role within SAGE bridges climate science and end-user application, ensuring that sub-seasonal forecasts are co-designed for actionable decisions in agriculture and environmental management.
