The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is looking for a new team member with a strong background in climate science, experience in climate prediction and/or climate services, and a keen interest in translating scientific advances into operational solutions that deliver tangible benefits for society.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of energy-related indicators and sector-specific climate information products based on seasonal climate predictions, at both global and regional scales, within a Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) contract aimed at enhancing the C3S Energy service.
BSC-CNS is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE, and is now a hosting entity for EuroHPC JU. Its mission is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and research and development in computer and computational science, including life, earth and engineering sciences, and currently has more than 1,000 staff members from 60 countries.
